Before The Flood

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Incase you don't watch the news, Houston has some major Noah's Ark stuff going on right now. Things have been a little hectic but thankfully I live in north Houston where there hasn't been any flooding, just gallons and gallons of rain falling from the sky. It's annoying and definitely has been affecting my mood. I'm a girl that needs to see sunshine. I'm not sure when the rain will stop because from the looks of it...its not going to end any time soon.

Anyways, last week my friend took me to JPMorgan Chase Tower in downtown Houston. He is a photographer and knows all of the cool places to get aerial shots of the city. He is known for sneaking into buildings and going to the roof top just to get the perfect shot. I on the other hand wanted a safer and legal alternative to looking at the best view of our city, because I'm a chicken and I love the having a clean record. It was totally free and (I didn't know this at the time) a tourist attraction as well. There was a family from France standing next to us and I couldn't help but eavesdrop on their conversation. I couldn't understand a word they were saying but listening to their voices create beautiful flowing words was definitely a highlight.

I'm not sure what my summer is going to be looking like this year because of the classes that I'll be taking. So I figured that I would pretend to be a tourist and revisit some of my favorite spots in Houston as well as new places I have never been before. This little trip was perfect for me. If you ever find yourself here in h-town I highly suggest coming here!

First Ever Photoshoot! (Sisters Prom)

Thursday, May 21, 2015

For some strange reason my sister was crazy enough to ask me to take her prom pictures. I was a bit nervous because I have never done anything like this before.
"You trust me to take your prom pictures? Pictures that you will most likely look at for years to come? Really. You trust me?" was that thought that went throughout my mind during the whole shoot.
As the time came to take the photos I ignored that nagging voice in the back of my head that told me I wasn't good enough and just did it.
And my goodness I am SO proud of myself!!!
I know that these aren't perfect and do not look like a professional badass photographer took them, but for a first timer like me, I think they turned out beautifully.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy looking through them and find them beautiful as well.

Frenchy

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

This moment had to be documented.
I needed to be reminded that there was a time before the french press,

before realizing that there was this thing in my cupboard that held the golden secret,
for that golden moment.
That blissful 'ahhh yes'

This cup held the greatest coffee I have ever had,
that I have ever made.

I needed this.
These past few weeks have been filled with stress, anxiety, tears, anger
all of those nasty emotions.
There has been a lot going on lately, but these things are getting better.
This is why this cup & this moment meant so much to me.

In this moment I realized that everything is and will be okay.
I reassured myself that.
This cup of lovely coffee reassured myself that.
My french press reassured myself that.

///

please do yourself a favor and buy a french press along with your favorite freshly grounded beans.
then you will experience this golden moment that i'm talking about.
